Although Polly West achieved the recognition as a quality kennel with champion dogs over the years, she was still looking to fulfill her dream of the ideal Dual Champion. In 1994 AFC American/Canadian Ch Sanbar's Call Collect, MH (Miles) was born. From Miles, her dreams of the ideal Brittany are coming true. When Miles was bred to CH Millette's All Booked Up (Page), his son, Ch Sanbar's Curtain Call, JH (Jonnie) was born.
The story of Jonnie is a fascinating one. Jonnie’s life started three weeks premature with two other pups. It took considerable effort on Polly’s part to keep all three pups alive, but Polly sensed that these three pups were special. She credits the expert assistance of her Vet, Jon Culbertson, without whom her dream would have been lost quickly.
All three pups from litter finished as champions early with Jonnie continuing to reach for higher levels of performance. Under the auspices of Barbara Scott at the local and regional levels and Adam Wilkerson on the show circuit, Jonnie has placed Sanbar Kennels on the “dog map” with his accomplishments in the show ring and field. In August 2005, Shea Skinner assumed the role of handler to finish Jonnie's campaign for Number one Sporting Dog.
With limited breeding, Jonnie's pups are finishing as champions at young ages while also showing the dog world they are anxious to demonstrate their capability to hunt.
To quote Showsight Magazine, August 2004, "America's Number One Brittany and Number Three Sporting Dog, CH SANBAR'S CURTAIN CALL JH ...has demonstrated his accomplishments as a bird dog and his perfect form-to-function conformation in hunt trials. Jonnie...is the only current Top Ten Sporting Dog with both show and Field titles.
"Jonnie's quality and athleticism brings him much attention in the Sporting Group..."
We truly appreciate the fine work of Shea and Tiffany Skinner in the handling of Jonnie in 2005. Their efforts provided the final touches on Jonnie's winning record. Without their dedication, expert care, and strong attatchment to Jonnie, this champion Brittany would not have ended his career so successfully. |
